A conservation officer from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently discovered a dead young male wolf of I-80 in Scott County. The wolf is estimated to be 2 years of age and The Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Ames examined the wolf to ascertain the couse of death. Vince Evelsizer, a furbearer biologist noted that the wolf could have been mistaken for a coyote, because after all, wolves in Iowa are a protected species.

Once people understand the true nature of wolves and their plight in the wild, that's one step closer to saving them.
