GRAY WOLVES SUBJECT TO NEW RECOVERY PLAN

The District of Columbia federal court approved a settlement that would require the USFWS to draft a new national wolf recovery plan. This draft plan must be completed within two years unless the service finds that the recovery plan would not promote the wolves' conservation. Prior to this settlement, Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) filed a lawsuit after the service failed to adequately perform a status review.

Although we appreciate the focus on gray wolf recovery, many wolves will be killed in the Northern Rockies over those two years; and with less than 5,000 wolves remaining, they still are at risk.

Once people understand the true nature of wolves and their plight in the wild, that's one step closer to saving them.
